Five Pro Tips for Back-to-School Lunches

Back to school? Back to routine? Make things easy, fun and delicious by following five pro tips for back-to-school lunches.

Check out our video on Epic back-to-school lunches! for more ideas and inspiration.

#1 | Nurture healthy eating habits.

So, what makes a balanced lunch? Incorporate lots of different food groups! Think about how to include lean protein, veggies, fruits, complex carbs (like beans, whole grains, or vegetables), and healthy fats (like avocados or peanut butter) for your next lunch-time win.

#2 | Picky eaters are more likely to try foods they helped prepare.

Boost your kid’s confidence in the kitchen. Dip mixes are a great place to start. They are easy to make and only require 2–3 ingredients.

Choose from some of our favourites:

·      Creamy Ranch Dip Mix

·      Lemon Dilly Dip Mix

·      CCB Dip Mix

·      3 Onion Dip Mix

Bonus: Getting your kids involved in this process will set them up for success when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.

#3 | Cook once. Eat twice.

Have you tried Epicure Meal Solutions? They’re a great way to get dinner on the table for the family and simultaneously pack lunch for the next day.

Try one of the following if you’re new to this strategy:

·      Pulled Pork

·      Pulled Chicken

With 16–20 servings per pack, they can be easily used throughout the week as a fun lunch option.

Sandwiches? Tacos? Nachos? Nourish bowls? The options are endless!

#4 | Prep in advance!

Mason jars are a great storage option for prep-ahead meals.

Try putting Creamy Garlic Hummus at the bottom of a mason jar and then your freshly cut celery and carrot sticks on top.

You can also try the same approach with your salads. Put Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing or Sesame Ginger Dressing at the bottom and your salad on top—it won’t get soggy overnight!

#5 | Add something sweet.

We know that kids still want some sweet snacks during the day. Below we’ve listed some sugar-conscious treats that are sugar-conscious but will hit the spot.

·      Chocolaty Temptation Cupcake

·      Sweet Banana Bread & Muffin

They only require 3 ingredients and you can easily pair them with the Muffin Maker or Mini Loaf Pans.

Want to try something new? Give them a whirl in the microwave! Same great taste and you don’t have to turn on your oven.
